Job description
We are looking for a Software Engineer – Application Support to keep GAC’s business applications reliable, available, and running smoothly. If you are someone who enjoys solving technical issues, supporting users, and working with technology teams to reduce disruption to daily operations, this role is for you.
Job requirements
What would your day at GAC look like?
Provide 2nd and 3rd line application support for business applications, including troubleshooting incidents, resolving service requests, and supporting day-to-day operations.
Manage customer issues within agreed service levels, clear communication, timely follow-up, and appropriate escalation when needed.
Maintain strong technical and functional knowledge of supported applications, infrastructure, and related business processes.
Support application enhancements, bug fixes, testing, releases and service improvement projects
Monitor application performance and availability.
Maintain accurate support for documentation and knowledge bases and contribute to knowledge sharing and mentoring within the team.
What are we looking for?
Education: Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Professional Certifications – Certifications in one or more of the following areas will be advantageous:
Microsoft Azure
Microsoft SQL Server Administration
ITIL Foundation or higher
Agile / DevOps methodologies
Application Performance Monitoring (APM)
Technical skills: Working knowledge of OOP, C#, REST APIs, .NET Core, WPF, WCF, and the .NET Framework. Good knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud hosting and container-based solutions, such as Docker and Azure Kubernetes Service. Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases. Knowledge of incident, problem, and change management processes, with a good understanding of ITIL best practices. Exposure to application development, integration, testing, and release.
Preferred additional skills: ITIL certification. Previous experience developing and supporting solutions in the supply chain, shipping, or logistics sectors. Knowledge of Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools. Working knowledge of Agile and DevOps methodologies.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in .NET Core, Minimum 2 years of production/application support experience in software, application, or technical services. Experience in application development, integration, testing, and release.
Communication & Personal Attributes: Communicate effectively across all levels, engaging and inspiring at senior levels internally and externally. Cultural awareness within a multi-cultural corporate environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
