Regulatory Specialist – Customs & Regulatory Compliance

Location: Kelana Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Selangor (Malaysia)

If you are passionate about customs regulatory compliance and operational coordination, you could be our new Regulatory Specialist – Customs & Regulatory Compliance with our team in Malaysia.

 

The Job

If appointed, you will be responsible for managing all customs regulatory, permit and license activities to ensure timely, cost-effective and compliant operations. You will work closely with internal departments, branches, customers (local and overseas), vendors, Customs and Other Government Agencies (OGA) to ensure smooth processing and regulatory compliance.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage / process permit and license applications with Customs and relevant government authorities.

  • Ensure full compliance with Malaysian import/export regulations and OGA requirements.

  • Coordinate with internal teams/branches to ensure timely and accurate execution of regulatory tasks.

  • Provide advisory support and timely updates to customers regarding shipment and regulatory status.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, filing and internal records.

  • Stay updated on government procedures and regulatory changes, communicating updates to stakeholders.

  • Support commercial activities including quotations, tenders and regulatory service proposals.

  • Proactively identify and resolve operational issues, escalating when necessary.

  • Ensure timely availability for operational support as and when required.

  • Additional assignments as directed by management.

Job requirements

What we’re looking for:

 Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Management or a related field.

  • At least 1 year of experience in customs operations, permits, licenses or regulatory compliance (more experience is an advantage).

  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian import/export regulations, customs procedures and OGA requirements.

Skills & Attributes

  • Good communication skills in Bahasa Malaysia and English (spoken and written).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Familiarity with SMK System, DagangNet and customs declaration systems will be considered an advantage.

  • Strong attention to detail with high accuracy in documentation.

  • Able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

  • Proactive, responsible and able to work independently as well as in a team.

  • Demonstrates professionalism, integrity and accountability.
