GAC Abu Dhabi I is looking for candidates for the role of QHSSE Officer to be based in Abu Dhabi. Could it be you?

Job Description

The job role is to support the QHSSE team to deliver on its objective of ensuring that the highest possible standards of safety are achieved and maintained throughout the operational areas assigned to their responsibility. The QHSSE Officer will be required to ensure all the principal job accountabilities are met and will support in effective implementation and compliance with QHSSE requirements.

Job Responsibilities

Emergency Preparedness: Ensure Emergency Preparedness plans are available and staff/equipment area are ready for timely response. Conduct regular drills.

Site Visits: Conduct site visit to ensure that safe practices are being applied in all GAC operational areas and check the work of any contractor working on site.

QHSSE Training: Relevant QHSSE Training to be identified and communicated to the team. Ensure training is provided as required.

QHSSE Communication/Toolbox Talks: Design and develop a new theme and poster for the monthly QHSSE bulletin and ensure it is communicated to all parties. Identify Toolbox Talk subject matter and prepare and communicate Toolbox Talks to be delivered by each department.

Client/External Parties: Ensure compliance with client and local authorities’ QHSSE requirements.

QHSSE inspection and audits: Plan HSSE inspections/audits for the assigned area of responsibility (including vehicles, launches, contractors).

Meetings: Organize QHSSE Committee Meetings for the responsible departments and ensure all relevant HSSE matters discussed and actions agreed.

HSSE Incidents/Issues: Manage all accidents/incidents using the GAC QHSSE online reporting system.

HSSE KPI: Compile and report HSSE KPIs, as assigned. Compile quarterly HSSE initiatives within the area of responsibilities and report them to HSSE Supervisor.

Hazardous Cargo/Chemicals: Ensure that all hazardous cargo is stored as per the SDS guidelines and in line with local regulations.

Contribute to QHSSE department effectiveness by participating in all QHSSE activities in (and outside) the GAC Abu Dhabi HSSE Department.

Share workload by assisting team members in tasks, projects, any areas of concern and providing leave cover.

Communicate openly/professionally without fear of retribution within GAC Abu Dhabi on process improvements and areas of concern. Share ideas, soundboard, discuss concerns on all areas of business (not just specific main-role functions).

Job requirements

  • University Graduate (Marine/technical preferable)
  • OHS Courses viz NEBOSH IGC, IOSH MS, 
  • UAE Driver’s License 
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001
  • KIZAD/Abu Dhabi/UAE Health and Safety Regulations
  • Excellent English written and verbal skills, and knowledge of sub-continental Asian language.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications, adept in learning new software
