GAC Shipping Namibia is looking for candidates for the role of Marine Representative / Ships’ Agent to be based in Walvis Bay. Could it be you?

 

Job Description

  • Perform the duties of a Marine Representative.

  • Ensure the smooth running of vessel operations, including meeting all deadlines and targets.

  • Keep abreast of industry trends, including changes in the Port of Walvis Bay and Luderitz.

  • Maintain contact with key industry players and identify possible business opportunities for Management to follow up on.

  • Prepare initial (Proforma) and final disbursement accounts for Principals and ensure processed targets are achieved.

  • Manage and monitor the debtors list on an ongoing basis and pursue outstanding amounts for prompt settlement.

  • Assist with the preparation of responses to enquiries and proforma disbursements

  • Ensure correct tariffs are applied.

  • Attend all vessels on board, where required, representing GAC to the best of your ability.

  • Regular and prompt communication daily with clients, vessels, local authorities and service providers.

  • Ensure that all relevant Group IT applications are fully utilised.

  • Assist fellow Ops staff wherever required.

  • Maintain the highest standards of service, including timely completion of all required documentation and responsibilities as per job description.

Relevant experience with an in-depth knowledge of port and ship operations

Personal initiative, leadership and managerial skills

Customer service orientated

Above average communication skills (written and verbal)

Good people skills

Organisational skills (able to multi-task and prioritise)

Sound understanding of budget, profits & losses

Decision-making skills

Ability to work under pressure and long hours when needed
