Manager / Senior Manager - Shipping Operations

GAC Shipping (India) Private Limited is looking for Manager / Senior Manager - Shipping Operations for its Mumbai branch. Could it be you?

Purpose of the role

Management of Mumbai Branch (all human and material resources) by complete management of the shipping operations without delays, always adhering to all regulatory norms and laws of the land. Also to ensure efficient shipping operations is carried out, continuous flow of internal and external communication is maintained, new & existing shipping business opportunities are utilized, and branch team is equipped to serve the call of duty 24 x 7.

Key responsibilities.

• Manage daily branch operations, including vessel handling, documentation, cargo coordination, and compliance with maritime regulations to ensure smooth operations, regulatory adherence, and client satisfaction, liaison with HO for Funds arrangement and track funds status, responsible for quick submission of Final DA of the vessel.

• Seek and develop new business opportunities, maintain current accounts, and act as the primary contact for client concerns. Concentrate on business growth, establishing long-term partnerships, and ensuring high service standards.

• Recruit, train, mentor, and motivate staff while promoting effective team collaboration and communication to build a skilled and engaged team capable of achieving branch and organizational goals

• Prepare budgets, monitor expenses, analyze financial performance, and track key performance indicators (KPIs). To maintain profitability, ensure cost efficiency and provide data for informed decision-making.

• Collect and report firsthand information regarding port conditions, including berth availability, maintenance schedules, and equipment status, to provide operational insights and assist clients with proactive planning.

• Quickly address emergencies, operational challenges, and disputes by collaborating with stakeholders for effective solutions. This approach mitigates risks and ensures business continuity, safeguarding the branch's reputation.

• Foster strong relationships with government agencies, ports, trade organizations, and chambers of commerce. Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and tax changes to provide timely insights for decision-making.

• Possess 10 - 15 years of shipping agency operations experience

• Lead a team / branch operation previously

• Good port operations/legal and compliance awareness

• Risk and critical issue management

• Preferred base location - Mumbai and adjoining areas

• Good communications skills
