About GAC Marine LLC

GAC Marine operates from our fully equipped marine base in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Our comprehensive offshore marine support includes anchor handling, project cargo transportation, platform supply, crew changes and supplies, as well as rig moves and tug & barge operations. Operations are supported by our growing fleet of anchor handling tug supply vessels, anchor handling tugs, crew boats, tow tugs, barges, utility vessels and landing craft.

Our expert crew, maintenance and other land-based staff are at hand to facilitate short turn-around times for class surveys, repairs, and maintenance.

GAC Marine is looking for the right person to join our team in the Manager Dry Docking role we are now resourcing to be based at our Abu Dhabi marine base. 

Job Description

  • Plan, execute and oversee dry-docking projects from inception to completion. Schedule repair and maintenance tasks to ensure timely project delivery. Maintain thorough records of all project activities, materials used and work performed. Ensure that all documentation complies with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments. Ensure vessels are compliant with international maritime laws and company standards.
  • Supervise and lead a team of engineers, technicians and laborers. Facilitate communication and collaboration among team members.
  • Liaise with engineering teams for repairs and upgrades. Review maintenance reports and recommend improvements.
  • Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring cost-effective operations. Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensure all work meets safety standards, regulations and client specifications. Conduct inspections and quality assessments during and after repair work.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients during dry-docking operations. Provide regular updates and reports on project sttus and performance

Job requirements

  • Class 1 Marine Engineering Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering.
  • Qualifications in Project Management (PMI/PMP preferred) and proven project management experience.
  • At least 5-8 years’ experience in ship repairs and dockings as a dry-docking superintendent or manager.
  • Operational experience in the towing environment on towage vessels.
  • Previous experience as a Marine Chief Engineer will be considered an advantage.
  • High command of English and at least one other language.
  • Strong people and systems management skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of Windows-based software (i.e., MS. Office Suite), including preparation of reports/statistics etc.
  • PMS and maintenance system knowledge.
  • Detailed knowledge in the operation and repair of marine equipment and systems, knowledge of the applicable classification and flag state requirements, and specific experience with ship repair and repair management.
