GAC UK is looking for candidates for the role of Jetty Operator to be based in Eastham. Could it be you?

Due to expansion, GAC UK are currently recruiting for Jetty Operators in Eastham.


The Jetty Operator role forms a key part of the Marine & Terminal Services (MATS) department. The Jetty Operators undertake mooring operations and management of the ship / shore interface to transfer Petro-chemicals safely and efficiently. The role provides our clients with first class services with a key focus on the promotion of a safe efficient working environment as the essential link between the Vessel, the Terminals, refineries, GAC Management and Port’s Operational teams.


Training and familiarisation for the role and responsibilities will be provided. There will be a 6-month probation period and ongoing role related professional development.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a positive safety culture, ensuring compliance with client and company requirements, risk assessments, procedures, industry guidance and legislation.
  • Undertake mooring operations and Jetty Operations which involve elements of manual handling and movement.
  • Perform connection and disconnection processes of loading arms / hoses, including crane work. This will involve working shoreside and onboard the vessels.
  • Undertake supervision of Ship Shore interface
  • Accurately record all activities and findings throughout the time on duty
  • Travel to a variety of locations as required to supply terminal and marine services
  • Liaise with all stakeholders to maintaining good relations both in person and over the phone
  • Take part in training as necessary to develop within the role

Job requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Good understanding and appreciation of a proactive safety culture
  • Marine or Terminal experience desired but not necessary as all full training will be provided
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Manual handling certificate (desired but not essential)
  • First Aid certificate (desired but not essential)
  • Experience of working in line with OCIMF ISGOTT (desired but not essential)
