Job description

  • Accountable for managing, monitoring, promoting, and fully executing Quality, Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (QHSSE) standards as per legislation, as well as government and company policies.
  • Advise, implement and lead GAC Marine LLC on all QHSSE aspects ensuring we are compliant and safe in all aspects of our operations across our marine fleet, marine base, workshop and corporate office.
  • Ensure GAC's QHSSE and Marine Standards policies and procedures are adhered to by employees, contractors, and other stakeholders all times. Take the initiative for proper and timely action in all areas of QHSSE.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the company safety management system in accordance with ISO, ISM, MLC and ISPS Code regulations.
  • Keep up-to-date on marine industry developments, as well as QHSSE regulations, standards and best practices. Integrate the latest QHSSE best practices and regulatory changes into company policies and procedures.
  • Conduct and manage internal audits and the local administration of the audit plan in compliance with ISO, ISM, ISPS and other adopted standards.
  • Liaise with the Operations team to ensure specific legislation relating to QHSSE is reviewed and disseminated where necessary.
  • Develop and manage the implementation of local safety initiatives as part of the company safety cultural development.
  • Maintain incident records and statistics, including computer-based incident reports and minutes.
  • Liaise with third party entities /authorities for external audit schedules and requirements, including reporting of close of external audit findings.

Job requirements

  • Postgraduate degree and NEBOSH Certificate / equivalent
  • Qualified internal auditor.
  • Minimum 5 years’ managerial experience handling health, safety and environmental procedures and compliance in a management capacity preferable in the marine industry.
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Proficient with MS Office applications
  • In-depth knowledge of EHS standards and applicable ISO standards, risk assessments, job safety analysis, etc.
