GAC Australia is looking for candidates for the role of Business Development Manager to be based in SYDNEY. Could it be you?


The role contributes to the business growth of the company by maintaining a positive and professional image both internally and externally. This includes fostering a customer-focused culture and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through close monitoring and continuous improvement of customer service. Building strong partnerships with customers, particularly domestic customers, charterers, and cargo controlling parties, is crucial to ensure loyalty and long-term success.

Responsibilities also include managing a database of current and potential customers, seeking out new business opportunities for both GAC Australia and the broader GAC Group, and assisting in the preparation and distribution of customer communications. Oversight of marketing software updates and requirements and learning and knowledge of inhouse company software such as GAC CMR is also part of the role..


The successful candidate will support the Managing Director with budgeting and planning, contribute to the development and improvement of procedures in cooperation with the management team, and assist in ad-hoc projects, tenders, and activities are further duties. Ensuring safety for all employees, customers, and contractors, as well as contributing to the maintenance of the company's quality assurance accreditation, is essential. Compliance with policies and procedures outlined in the QA procedure manual is imperative to uphold quality standards.

Job requirements

As an experienced Business Development Manager, your role will be pivotal in sustaining our market standing and propelling business expansion. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you'll be tasked with various responsibilities:

  • Identifying and seizing business prospects for GAC Australia, both within domestic and international markets.
  • Meeting and surpassing sales targets and objectives.
  • Nurturing robust customer relationships through adept communication and meticulous account management.
  • Offering perceptive analysis of sales performance to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Working closely with senior management to establish budgets and set achievable targets.
  • Keeping abreast of industry developments and competitor actions to inform strategic decisions.
  • Presenting GAC Australia in a professional manner to customers, embodying the values and ethos of the company
  • These responsibilities align with the core functions of a Business Development Manager, focusing on driving growth, fostering client relationships, and providing strategic insights to enhance business performance.
