Job description

We are looking for thew right person to join our team in Mumbai as Assistant Manager – P & I / Legal Matters.

What would your day at GAC look like? 

  • Ensuring prompt acknowledgement of all operational and survey matters, coordinating with surveyors and stakeholders, obtaining competitive quotations, and facilitating timely resolution in accordance with P&I Standard Operating Procedure timelines. 

  • Handling claims / matters relating to marine insurance independently, correspondence and coordination with TT/ITIC club. 

  • Maintaining/ updating the daily activity tracker with accurate and up-to-date information on all ongoing matters to ensure visibility and effective monitoring. 

  • Conducting weekly follow-ups with clients/members on outstanding invoices to support timely collections and minimize overdue receivables 

  • Performing compliance screening through MIRS upon receipt of every enquiry. Obtaining approval from the Group Compliance Team for vessels with calls to sanctioned countries (within the last 10 port calls) before proceeding. 

  • Raising and dispatching final invoices immediately upon completion of each matter. Preparing and issuing proforma invoices whenever required based on member instructions. Following up for fund recovery related to services provided to clients. 

  • Processing and submitting supplier/vendor invoices promptly to enable timely payments and maintain healthy vendor relationships. 

  • Coordinating with vendors to complete registration and due diligence requirements in line with Supplier Due Diligence Process (SDP) and Group Compliance requirements. 

  • Accounting - supplier, sales, credit approvals, POs, supplier registration etc., coordinating with authorities, vendors, surveyors,

Job requirements

What are we looking for? 

  1. Education: Postgraduate in Marine Law 

  1. Experience: 2- 4 years of experience in claims handling and legal correspondence, including correspondence with TT clubs.  

  1. Technical Skills:  

Claims handling 

Legal knowledge in vetting agreements, sending demand notices, handling claims. 

Good English communication - written/oral good computer skills 

Basic accounting skills 

  1. MS Office suite – Word & Excel  

  1. Soft skills: Teamwork, communication, network development and attention to details.
