Job description

GAC UK is looking for candidates for the role of Accounts Assistant to be based in Grangemouth. Could it be you?


GAC UK employs over 300 experts across more than 25 offices covering all of the UK, Ireland and Gibraltar. We deliver a wide range of integrated shipping, logistics and marine services to the energy and shipping industries. We also serve specialised sectors like marine leisure, sports and events, automotive and aviation, providing complex and time-critical logistics solutions. The Key responsibilities are:

You will support the finance function across a range of core accounting and administrative duties, including:

  • Managing the department mailbox and responding to queries from internal and external queries

  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly financial statements

  • Posting journals and supporting ledger reviews

  • Calculating and posting monthly accrals and prepayments

  • Preparing balance sheet and bank reconciliations

  • Supporting the UK statutory reporting process

  • Analysing and posting credit card and cash expenses

  • Setting up bank payments for authorisation

  • Contributing to ad hoc project work and continuous improvement initiatives

Business Analysis:

  • Providing analytical insights to support business decision-making and identify areas for improvement

  • Producing and presenting regular management information reports

  • Supporting budget tracking and performance analysis

Job requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines with strong time management skills

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

  • Strong competency in Excel, Word and Outlook

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment

  • Knowledge and experience of journal posting (including debits and credits)

  • Confidence communicating with non-finance colleagues across the business
